TEA, SWORDS AND STITCHES: A Contemporary Interpretation of Classic Kimono Design will be on display April 4 to June 6, 2010 .

Curated and organized by Cynthia Hughes and Glenn Szegedy
Exhibition Features Displays of Classic Japanese Kimonos, Swords, Embroidery, Netsuke, and Soari Weaving.
Time honored traditional Japanese arts arrive in Lowell with a contemporary twist as twelve regional artists share their unique interpretations of the classic Japanese kimono and accoutrements. Contributing artists are Beth Anderson, Christine Cellozzi, Lynne Chantler, Deirdre Grunwald, Cynthia Hughes, Susan Krantz, Anne Lee/Sonja Lee-Austin, Diane Montenegro, Stacey Piwinski, Sarah Saulson, Diane Zacaroli Spera, Margot Stage, and Glenn Szegedy. Kimono floor stands using traditional Japanese joinery techniques were designed and built by Bob Audlee.
Iaido Sword Demonstration:Saturday, May 1, 2 p.m., presented by Sensei Alex Markauskas

Embroidery and Saori Weaving Demonstrations : Saturday, May 1, 12-4 p.m., presented by the members of the New England Region of The Embroiders' Guild of America, Inc. and Saori Weaver Stacey Piwinski.

Thanks to all that came to visit the studio last weekend for Lowell Open Studios. We had great attendance last weekend! For those of you who did not make it, this Saturday artists will be opening their studios from noon to 5pm for the First Saturday Celebrations. I hope to see you there!

Handwoven Scarves- Just in time for the fall!

Come visit the studio this weekend for the best selection of handwoven scarves. Participating artists will be open both Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th from 11-5 as part of the Lowell Open Studios.

Art Turtle Studio is located on the second floor in studio #205 at 122 Western Avenue in Lowell. The Western Avenue Studios Artists Association is a group of over 1oo artists working in a renovated, early 20th century mill building in historic Lowell, Massachusetts.

At Art Turtle Studio, you will find artwork created in a variety of media such as oil paintings, handbuilt ceramics, and handwoven fabrics all created by Stacey Piwinski. At Art Turtle Studio, the importance of making time in our busy schedules to enjoy the process of creating comes first. I hope you can visit soon!
